Kim Yeong-Hee
Abstract
The demand for play therapy has increased recently and the integrated approach to developmental characteristics of children in clinical settings is required, but an integrative approach to play therapy is still necessary. Thus, this study considers what kind of role a therapist should play in each section in the view of the integrative play therapy approach. For this purpose, the relevant literature was analyzed and therapeutic sections were drawn out from play therapy. The main areas that therapists should deal with were selected as joining with the child, response skills during play, transference and countertransference, and child¡¯s progress on adaption. Hypotheses of the chosen areas were proposed and the roles of therapists were suggested. The study suggests the role of therapist, using various advantages of the integrated model, the integrative direction of play therapy, and required materials to improve therapists¡¯ abilities and expertise.
